Using real-time PCR to measure the expression of EIF4G1 transcripts, we found that EIF4G1 expression was significantly increased in freshly isolated NPC tissues (n = 10) and NPC cell lines (n = 6) in comparison to freshly isolated nasopharyngeal tissues (n = 7) and the immortalized human nasopharyngeal epithelial cell lines NP69 (Figure 1A) (P < 0.001). The gene discussed is EIF4G1; the disease is nasopharyngeal carcinoma.
