Single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) genotyping has been successfully used to identify several risk alleles and disease associated genes [24-26], so we have used this technology to evaluate potential involvement of common alleles in genes for the glucocorticoid receptor (NR3C1), immunophilins (FKBP4 and FKBP5), and SR splicesome proteins (SFRS3, SFRS5, SFRS9) in the development of GC-induced ocular hypertension and POAG. Here, FKBP4 is linked to open-angle glaucoma.
