Wagner et al found that mRNA expression of the peptidyl O-glycosyltransferase GalNAc-T14 correlated with Apo2L/TRAIL sensitivity in pancreatic carcinoma, non-small-cell lung carcinoma and melanoma cell lines, and up to 30% of samples from various human malignancies including breast cancer, ovarian cancer, lung cancer and skin cancer showed GalNAc-T14 overexpression using real-time PCR assays. This evidence concerns the gene GALNT14 and skin cancer.
