In vitro, cells have to be serum-starved prior to growth induction (and c-Jun elevation) before Dz13 shows it effects [1,3,4], but in vivo, where such a protocol is irrelevant, except in areas of the tumour where new blood supply has been established after a certain degree of ischaemia, Dz13 is active against its target mRNA, the c-Jun oncogene.
