Therefore, for prostate cancer screening, a compensatory adjustment of PSA level (multiplication by factor 2) is recommended in men who are on finasteride 5 mg/ day for BPH.[29] Similar reduction in PSA level has also been demonstrated in men aged between 40-60 years receiving finasteride 1mg/ day for androgenetic alopecia.[30] Hence, compensatory adjustment of PSA level should also be applied for these patients during prostate cancer screening.
