NLRP3 and cryopyrin-associated periodic syndrome: CINCA/NOMID is an autoinflammatory disorder characterized by the triad of neonatal onset of cutaneous symptoms, chronic meningitis, and recurrent fever [1-4] Since many cases are attributed to heterozygous gain-of-function mutations in NLRP3 (CAIS1), the gene encoding cryopyrin [5,6], it is classified into cryopyrin-associated periodic syndromes (CAPS).
