We have been investigating one category of the mechanisms that may be responsible for the observed effects on heart cells from a synthetic antidiabetic drug, rosiglitazone (AVANDIA, GlaxoSmithKline, Brentford, UK) of the thiazolidinedione (TZD) family of insulin-sensitizing compounds used in the treatment of type II diabetes. Here, INS is linked to type 2 diabetes mellitus.
