Several studies [60,61], however provide compelling evidence that some cancer cells which are mitotically non-viable escape cell death, due to the accumulation of some genetic and epigenetic mutations and p53/pRB/p53Ink4a-dependent senescence checkpoint malfunctioning resulting in telomerase dysfunction [61,62] and finally evade cell death via continued progression through neosis. This evidence concerns the gene TP53 and cancer.
