Although the reversal of renal hypertrophy has been observed in animals with various treatments, such as glucose control [41], neutralizing VEGF antibody [42] or C-peptide [43], human observations are in favor of a persistence of renal hypertrophy [17,27-29], but its outcome has yet to be reported in advanced stages of diabetic renal disease. This evidence concerns the gene VEGFA and cardiac hypertrophy.
