Clinical forms of the disease depend on the tumour site: abdominal fibromatosis (deep or desmoid), which occurs on the abdominal wall of women in association with hormonal factors; intra-abdominal fibromatosis, some forms of which are associated with germ-like mutations of the adenomatous polyposis coli (APC) gene-associated Gardner syndrome; and extra-abdominal fibromatosis, which occurs in the head and neck, trunk, and limbs. This evidence concerns the gene APC and abdominal fibromatosis.
