HLA-C and multiple sclerosis: By cataloguing variation in the MHC through the resequencing of specific haplotypes[56] and empirically establishing the complex patterns of LD across the region,[57] it has been possible to establish a comprehensive panel of haplotype-tagging Single-Nucleotide Polymorphisms (SNPs).[58] These SNPs are currently being typed in multiple sclerosis and a number of other autoimmune diseases as part of the International MHC and Autoimmunity Genetics Network (IMAGEN) project.
