Several genetic risk factors for AMD have been established, including the complement factor H (CFH) gene on chromosome 1q32 [9-13] and two tightly linked genes, namely age-related maculopathy susceptibility 2 (ARMS2) and high-temperature requirement factor A1 (HTRA1) on chromosome 10q26 [14-16]. The gene discussed is CFH; the disease is age-related macular degeneration.
