Although high Bmi-1 overexpression is connected to poor prognosis in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (Song et al, 2006) and to non-small-cell lung cancer, breast carcinoma, and hepatocellular carcinoma (Vrzalikova et al, 2008), in our data, Bmi-1-negative tumours showed a correlation with poor prognosis. The gene discussed is BMI1; the disease is hepatocellular carcinoma.
