Nilotinib (AMN107, Tasigna; Novartis Pharma, Basel, Switzerland) is a new, orally active, selective inhibitor of the ABL/BCR-ABL, CSF-1R, DDR, KIT, and PDGFR tyrosine kinases, that is more potent against chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) cells in vitro than is imatinib. The gene discussed is ABL1; the disease is chronic myelogenous leukemia, BCR-ABL1 positive.
