To assess whether variation in genes with differing expression levels by outcome influenced risk of ovarian cancer, we conducted a case-control analysis of inherited variants in genes in the predictive model mentioned above [2] as well as in HTRA1 (encoding the serine protease HtrA1) which we have shown is down-regulated in a majority of ovarian tumors [12], [13] and has a key role in apoptosis [13]. This evidence concerns the gene HTRA1 and ovarian cancer.
