Compared to 513 household contacts who remained disease-free throughout follow-up, the 120 TB cases were about 1⁄2 as likely to be H. pylori CagA positive (AOR: 0.55 (95% CI 0.36–0.83, p = 0.005), while seroprevalence was not different between nonprogressors and 37 incident TB cases (AOR: 1.35 [95% CI 0.65–3.0), p = 0.44). The gene discussed is S100A8; the disease is tuberculosis.
