Activation of NF-kB (translocation to the nucleus) promotes cell growth and proliferation in prostate cancer cells by regulating the expression of c-myc, cyclin D1 or IL-6 [29,40]; but also by the up-regulation of the expression of several anti-apoptotic proteins, including the inhibitor of apoptosis proteins (IAPs) [29].
