Some of these gene polymorphisms, such as insertion/deletion (I/D) polymorphism of the ACE gene (Mattace-Raso et al. 2004), and apolipoprotein E (APOE) (Beilby et al. 2003) have been reported as a disease-candidate risk for ICA stenosis and coronary artery disease.
