The IL-8 level in patients with low-third gastric cancer was significantly higher than that in the healthy controls (Z = −8.186, P < .001), and was further up-regulated significantly in cachectic patients compared with non-cachectic patients (1.413 ± 0.130 ng/mL versus 0.899 ± 0.076 ng/mL, Z = −3.134, P = .002).
