A relationship between the VEGFA and VEGFR-2 genes and neovascular AMD seems plausible, given the role of choroidal neovascularization in the pathophysiology of late-stage AMD and the importance of the receptor VEGFR-2 in the VEGF-signaling pathways that modulate angiogenesis and vascular permeability. Here, KDR is linked to age-related macular degeneration.
