This increased rate of malignancy was not seen in another study that compared the incidence of malignancy and cardiovascular disease in two large RA observational databases: BIOBADSER, a registry for safety of biologics, which included 4459 RA patients on TNF-alpha blocking agents in 100 centers who were followed from 2001 to 2006 and EMECAR, an external RA cohort (n = 789) established to define the characteristics of the disease and to assess comorbidity [5]. The gene discussed is TNF; the disease is cardiovascular disorder.
