ACE and hypertensive disorder: Earlier studies have shown association between this polymorphism and several cardiovascular diseases like myocardial infarction,[5] left ventricular hypertrophy,[6] cardiomyopathy,[2] and hypertension.[7, 8] Studies have been carried out on the association between the ACE I/D polymorphism and hypertension in various populations and both positive and negative association have been reported.[9–12] The present study is the first report investigating the role of this important polymorphism in a rural population of Haryana, North India.
