In China, a previous investigation of HLA-A, B, Cw alleles in HIV-1/AIDS patients from the Yi ethnic group in Sichuan province, China, showed that HLA-B*46 may be associated with susceptibility to HIV-1 infection [11], whereas HLA-A*3601, Cw*14 and Cw*0304 may correlate with slow AIDS disease progress [10]; in contrast to the B*15 allele that has been reported to accelerate disease progression in North China [12]. This evidence concerns the gene HLA-B and HIV-1 infection.
