Although alterations of TP53 appear to have little- or no-prognostic significance for CRC patients treated with surgery alone [34], several clinical studies have demonstrated that CRC patients with wild-type TP53-tumors gain a survival benefit from 5-FU based postoperative chemotherapy, but those with TP53-mutated tumors do not [35-37]. This evidence concerns the gene TP53 and colorectal carcinoma.
