Meta-analysis of 6 RCTs of GPI in ACSWSTE [10] included 31,402 patients (18,297 on GPI) of which 24% underwent PCI at 30 days suggested that: (a) 30-day mortality (3.4% versus 3.75, p=0.14, OR 0.91 (95% CI of 0.81-1.03), and non-fatal myocardial infarction (defined as CPK rise exceeding 2-3 times the upper limit of normal) (7.4% versus 8.1%, OR=0.92, 95% CI 0.81-1.03) were not significantly reduced. This evidence concerns the gene PIK3C2A and myocardial infarction.
