Recently our laboratory has identified the signaling mechanism mediated by α3(IV)NC1 that inhibits hypoxia induced cyclo-oxygenase-2 (COX-2) expression in endothelial cells via FAK/Akt/NFκB pathways, and leads to decreased tumor angiogenesis and tumor growth in an α3β1 integrin dependent manner (Boosani et al. 2007). This evidence concerns the gene PTGS2 and neoplasm.
