In such situation, the FK80 has an advantage over the traditional three-band combination RDTs that detect HRP-2 and pan-species specific pLDH of aldolase: unlike the FK80, their design does not allow to exclude a mixed infection in the case of P. falciparum samples that react with both the HRP-2 and the pan-species lines. This evidence concerns the gene HDGFL2 and infection.
