The Helping Evaluate Exenatide in patients with diabetes compared with Long-Acting insulin (HEELA) study was designed to compare treatment with exenatide vs. insulin glargine, on the composite primary endpoint of HbA1c ≤7.4% and weight gain ≤1 kg in a population of overweight patients with type 2 diabetes who were at high risk of cardiovascular disease and not adequately controlled by two or three OADs. This evidence concerns the gene INS and type 2 diabetes mellitus.
