Therefore, based on the proof of Emilin1 modulating TGF-β availability in the development of cardiovascular system and the pathogenesis of hypertension and linking TGF-β maturation to blood pressure homeostasis identified in animal study, the discovery of genetic susceptibility of Emilin1 gene to hypertension will lead to a better understanding of the mechanism of human hypertension.
