Some studies showed that the cytokines, such as transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β), interleukin-10 (IL-10), and platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF), appeared to have an important role in the control of fibroblast activity in vitro, and have been implicated in the pathogenesis of PF [23, 24]. This evidence concerns the gene TGFB1 and pemphigus foliaceus.
