It has recently been reported by van Lohuizen and his colleagues that BMI1 transgenic mice produce PINs in the prostate (see the meeting report of the CNIO Cancer Conference on Stem Cell and Cancer held between Feb 23-25, 2009 in Madrid, Spain) [50], which closely resembles the pathology observed in the prostate of PTEN+/- mice [51]. This evidence concerns the gene PTEN and cancer.
