CD4 and disease arising from reactivation of latent virus: Given that the VSV-G-pseudotyped HIV infects cells in the absence of receptor signaling, we performed parallel studies in which the VSV-G-pseudotyped HIV was used to infect both transformed and resting CD4 T cells to understand possible alternative pathways that the VSV-G-pseudotyped HIV-1 may employ to establish latent infection of resting CD4 T cells.
