Results from the literature have suggested that LRP1 is a likely contributor to adipogenesis, adipocyte homeostasis and obesity given its high expression in adipocytes [4], [10], [11], that it binds ApoE [7], [8], LpL [20], [21] and hepatic lipase [9], and that it collaborates with heparin sulfate proteoglycans to mediate the internalization of ApoE and LpL [22], [23]. The gene discussed is LRP1; the disease is obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
