INS and Sepsis: Using the Database for Annotation, Visualization, and Integrated Discovery (http://david.abcc.ncifcrf.gov) to identify overrepresented pathways, we found that predicted miR-150 targets were significantly (p<0.05) clustered in a few KEGG pathways, and the five most overrepresented pathways were all known to be involved in sepsis (Table 2): MAPK inhibition improves survival in endotoxin shock and prevents sepsis [18]; Wnt has a role in regulation of inflammation [19]; and insulin resistance [20], [21], ErbB (EGFR) [22], and mTOR [23] are related to immune and inflammatory response.
