These results are in line with our comparative analysis, in which from a list of 26 genes (Signature 5) commonly overexpressed in HPV-carcinomas, half of them are directly implicated in different processes of the cell cycle (CDKN2A, MYBL2, LIG1, TPX2, CENPF, E2F1, SYCP2, PCNA, MCM2, CDC7, CDKN2C, KIF15, and UBE2C), such as DNA replication, DNA repair, and cell cycle regulation (Fig. (1)).
