The autosomal dominantly inherited bilateral corneal dystrophies involving the anterior corneal layers of the epithelial basement membrane, Bowman layer, and/or anterior stroma are typically described as occurring in association with TGFBI (Transforming Growth factor-beta induced) [1] or PIP5K3 (Phosphatidylinositol-3-Phosphate 5-Kinase, Type III) [2] mutations. This evidence concerns the gene PIKFYVE and corneal dystrophy.
