The lack of a significant association between the use of NSAIDs and COX-2 inhibitors and cardiovascular risk factors in this RA cohort replicates findings in SLE [20] but needs cautious interpretation; the adverse effects of NSAIDs and COX-2 inhibitors, particularly on blood pressure, are well documented [5–7]. Here, PTGS2 is linked to systemic lupus erythematosus.
