The pro-steatotic transcriptional program, manifested in the activation of lipogenic, adipogenic and lipid accumulation pathways and the activation of genes such as PPARγ gene itself, stearoyl-CoA desaturase 1 (SCD1) and CIDEC (Fsp27) (Figure 2, 3, 5, 6) suggest that the adipogenic transformation of hepatocytes and the development of liver steatosis may occur during the late phase of HF feeding [34]–[37], [55]. This evidence concerns the gene PPARG and hydrops fetalis.
