A majority of the glutamatergic related probe sets correspond to ionotropic NMDA receptor subunits (GRINA, GRIN2A, GRINL1A) and AMPA (GRIA3,GRIA4, GRIA1, GRIA2) receptors with the later being consistently up-regulated among the suicides with major depression versus the controls or the suicides without history of major depression (Figure 4). This evidence concerns the gene GRIA4 and major depressive disorder.
