Increased plasma concentration of YKL-40 is related to poor prognosis and shorter survival in patients with ovarian cancer (Hogdall et al. 2003), colorectal carcinoma (Cintin et al. 2002), metastatic prostate carcinoma (Brasso et al. 2006), and melanoma (Schmidt et al. 2006a, 2006b). Here, CHI3L1 is linked to melanoma.
