Previously Borg et al. (Borg et al. 1998) had shown that bcl-2 expression was not related to survival while Ong et al. (Ong et al. 2000) had shown that high bax expression was a good prognostic indicator in AML, with patients exhibiting high bax expression at diagnosis having a significantly better prognosis for disease-free, event-free and overall survival (p = 0.016). Here, BAX is linked to acute myeloid leukemia.
