Our data suggested that PGRPLC3 might play a key modulatory role in the defense against bacteria, which in turn modulates infections with Plasmodium. To investigate this, we built homology models of the three main PGRPLC isoforms based on the crystal structure of the Drosophila PGRP-LCx-TCT-LCa heterodimer complex and structural alignments between Anopheles and Drosophila PGRPLCs (Figure S8).
