CXCL8 and inflammatory bowel disease: Recently, Th17 lymphocytes have been characterized as potent inducers of tissue inflammation in several autoimmune diseases, such as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), psoriasis, multiple sclerosis (MS), lupus erythematosus systemicus, rheumatoid arthritis (RA), and Bechet’s disease, through the activation of a wide range of inflammatory mediators (IL-6 and IL-8), angiogenesis, and the induction of immune cell activation, particularly neutrophils [6-15].
