This hypothesis appeared to be supported by the fact that higher levels of antibodies directed against brains structures were observed in children with OCD and PANDAS [22], [23] and that patients with Tourette's syndrome and tic disorder have increased titers of antibodies specific for streptococcal M protein [24], which is known to elicit antibodies cross-reacting with human brains proteins [25].
