TP53 and carcinoma: As another important cancer-related gene, the p53 gene has been most extensively investigated in surgical samples of both benign pleomorphic adenoma, focal carcinoma in pleomorphic adenoma [3] and carcinoma ex pleomorphic adenoma [10-18], and mutations in the p53 gene have been considered to be responsible for the malignant transformation of pleomorphic adenoma [10-12].
