IL6 and autoimmune myocarditis: Specifically, lack of IL-6 has been demonstrated to be sufficient to prevent a plethora of autoimmune diseases such as experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) [11], pristane-induced lupus [12], experimental-induced arthritis [13], [14], autoimmune myasthenia gravis [15] and, most notably with regard to this report, experimental-induced autoimmune myocarditis (EAM) [2].
