IPA suggested that the majority of up-regulated genes reflected predominantly IFN-γ stimulation, a phenomenon we have observed in BCCs regression upon treatment with TLR-7 agonists [32] and, more generally, in association with TSD [2]; among them, STAT-1 and IRF-1 were previously described in association with TSD [2,31,32] and play a central role in the signaling of IFN-γ and other pro-inflammatory cytokines such as IL-2 and IL-15 [33]. The gene discussed is STAT1; the disease is Tay-Sachs disease.
