There are also limitations associated with basing practice solely on the current literature concerning postoperative CK levels in vascular surgical patients.4,6,7 Firstly, patients with troponin levels above the ULN, or patients with suspected myocardial infarction have been excluded from these analyses.4,7 Therefore none of these studies evaluated the implications of positive troponin levels in the presence of a high CK4,6,7 on perioperative statin administration. This evidence concerns the gene KRT4 and myocardial infarction.
