Since apoptotic cells induced in situ have been demonstrated to increase the level of circulating TGFβ [8] and because previous studies have indicated that the systemic levels, not the local levels (that is, joints), of TGFβ were positively associated with the amelioration of SCW arthritis [17], we measured circulating TGFβ in the recipient rats at days 1, 4, 6 and 11 after induction of arthritis in the different conditions. This evidence concerns the gene TGFB1 and arthritic joint disease.
