F5 and inflammatory bowel disease: In the past few years, much research has focused on the inherited thrombophilic risk factors in IBD as a way to clarify their possible participation in associated macrovascular thrombosis.[12] Two reports disclosed that 45% of CD patients[13] and 4 of 11 patients with thrombosis had inherited the FVL mutation.[14] Therefore, it is still questionable whether the entire IBD patient population should be studied for the presence of common thrombophilic markers.[15, 16]
